With over 140 varieties of the Hakea Plant of the Proteaceae Family of Native Australian Flora, it was hard to choose which to include in these artworks.   There are a few species growing in and around Lorne on the Great Ocean Road where I've observed them through the seasons.  The Hakea is not an endangered native however some varieties are considered weeds and locals wish to eradicate them.

The Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos fly over and land in the canopies. They are a rare feature on the South East Coast and a citing often affords 2, 4 or 6 in a group.  Magnificent.  Regional reports indicate a significant decline in some states like Western & Southern Australia and non-existent in the Northern Territory.
